Look out for the music for animations I did with MTV if you have the channel and a television. There are parts on MTV 2 and MTV HITS in the UK from spring 2008. Also there is an minute long artbreak on MTV Europe.

I wrote the music and sound, played the strings etc. Look out for my younger brother Ewan...
I just made a remix for Hecq who is based in Berlin, I'll keep you posted on the release of this. The sounds were amazing to work with.
Flat-e have renovated their site which now contains work and info such as 'Ionisation', the new film 'Shadowplay' and plenty more to look at/think about. There are various projects that I lent a merry hand to also, in the form of music and sound (and occasional hand/arm modeling).

Also there are collaborations in the pipeline such as the Onedotzero show in Paris which will be all new work based on the life and times of Charles Waterton. HUGE!
I was nominated and shortlisted (to four composers) for this prize which was presented in Notting Hill by Will Self, who was very funny. The compositions I submitted were the unreleased piece called "This is why I hate the sea" , and "Cinece" "Nobodies favourite" and the film "Ionisation".
I wrote the music played the instruments etc, love their work. It was an episode of ICA the show I wrote the music for ICA the show.
This film is from about 2003, I wrote the music, weird pop.

Here is what the Wire magazine said about it...
The animation work of Finn McNicholas - aka Ultre - has been used on Warp's Works & 20th Century Composers tour, and Warp's influence is certainly in evidence in the rhythmic chassis of All the Darkness, with its intemperate bursts of squalid rhythm counterpointed by more placid sequences. However, what lends the album its individuality is his use of instruments made from metal and wire, as well as slightly bashed-about acoustic instruments such as the untuned piano that weaves unsteadily through "Nobodies Favourite". There's a nice contrast between the conventionally sleek, futuristic aura of the electronic components of these pieces and a bustling, clankier DIY element suggestive of creaky doors and busy toolsheds.
Going to do a new set with me instrument (pictured) I think for these dates. Somewhere between my album, Details and the Ultre AV set.

FULL ALBUM INFO COMING SOON...

UNDERCURRENT brings together sound and visual artists based in the UK and China in a cross-continental collaboration. The project feeds from a pool of audio, video and photographic material collected by D-Fuse from cities in both countries. This is being re-interpreted in response to questions of urban architecture, economic and social change as well as our personal relations to the space that surrounds us. Undercurrent is a multi-screened, immersive environment of high-resolution video/images and sound.

I'm really excited about the new live set after a technical breakthrough this week. Its going to be triggering sound and animation live, something I have been wanting to do/ working towards for ages. It will be with Robin from flat-e who is my Brother.
We have been working on the narrative and structure this time creating an experience that lives somewhere between film and technoid meltdown.
Should be ready to blast in the Autumn and I can not wait.
